Heartland treats the following children and adolescents with the following disorders:

  • Self Injurious Behaviors
  • PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Reactive Attachment Disorder
  • Mood Disorders
  • Suicidal Behaviors

Our Acute program offers comprehensive psychiatric treatment to children and adolescents (males and females) ranging in age from 4 through 17.

To be admitted to for Heartland’s Acute Program, one or more of the following criteria must be met within the past 24 hours:

  • Threatening to, or behaving in a manner considered dangerous to self or others
  • Unable to safely function socially, educationally or in the family environment
  • Continued failure to be successful in a less restrictive environment, such as a foster home or group home setting that requires a highly structured and secured environment for stabilization

Our Residential Treatment Program treats males and females ages 12 to 17 who require extended psychiatric treatment.

At Heartland, we believe in the power of activity therapy. That’s why we offer a wide range of leisure activities that are designed to facilitate building self-confidence and trust. The activities we offer on our 50-acre campus include, but are not limited to:

  • 5,000 square-foot indoor/outdoor Equestrian Center
  • 2 Playgrounds
  • Basketball Court
  • Gymnasium
  • Bowling Alley

It is very important to us that you feel comfortable while learning about your options with Heartland Behavioral Health Services. Rest assured that our programming is catered to the individual — while keeping each child’s familial unit engaged in treatment with family therapy and education. Should you find yourself concerned about the distance and separation from your child, we offer you the opportunity to engage with your child and the professionals involved in treatment team meetings and family therapy through video. You’ll only need a smartphone, computer, or handheld device with a camera and an email address.

Yes, our current education program is Edgenuity and provides an exciting, engaging experience that is designed to capture attention and draw students into the interactive world of online and blended learning. All Edgenuity instruction takes place in classrooms with trained, certified, highly qualified Nevada R-V School District teachers. Heartland students rotate classroom settings approximately every hour between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. each morning, Monday through Friday.

Yes, the following items are considered contraband if found on or around any patient on the unit: lighters, matches, aerosol cans, pornographic material, glass objects, metal cans, razor blades, tacks, push pins, scissors, any type of recording device, VHS tapes, paper clips, staples, hangers, MP3 players, nail clippers, nail files, knives, finger nail polish, cleaning supplies, over the counter medications, outside medications, herbal supplements, illegal substances, drug paraphernalia of any kind, tobacco products, nail polish remover, glue, white out, permanent markers, spiral notebooks, chewing gum, candy, belts, shoe strings, any item with a string, large belt buckles, steel-toe boots, jackets with zippers. Many everyday items will be placed in a personal box to be checked out daily.
